In most cultures women are the caretakers. They care for children, husbands, home, extended family members, and friends. They bake the cupcakes, drive the carpool, juggle family and household responsibilities, care for aging parents, and prepare meals for ailing friends. But who nurtures her when all of this caring begins to hurt? She may experience emotional symptoms of depression, anger, or anxiety. She may notice physical symptoms such as headaches, stomach pains, or disease. Women cycle through many transitions in their lives – marriage, births, careers, death, divorce, and retirement. She is asked to adapt to all of the struggles and challenges that come with each transition. It can be difficult to ask for help, but great healing can occur through therapy and through the interactions with other women. The emotional pitcher becomes full again, physical and emotional well-being is restored and she can continue to care for those she loves.
